Australia Post considers giving up mail delivery.

Dear Whatever Crazy Fuck Originated This Plan: "Taxes pay for services" was the bullshit governments used to sucker us into paying taxes in the first place, remember? "Social Contract" ring any bells?

You want to welch on the services? Fine, I'm not paying any more taxes.

See how you like supporting your crack habit by sucking dicks in an alley, instead of embezzling from the public trough.

You know Post has been a privatised, corporate entity for over a decade? It merely has an agreement with the government where Post pays a large sum to the government to retain a monopoly on most delivery services, and in exchange if Post gets into hot water the government is obligated to save it.

So, ultimately, your taxes have very little to do with Post. In fact, Post gives money to the government, not the other way around.

Its my understanding that they're "Corporartised" but still wholly government owned. Which sounds to me like behaving like a typical bastard corporation for no reason at all.
